Woodwork Class: Created A Star

One of my voluntary interests has been helping to establish a wood workshop for the Gallatown community in Kirkcaldy.

My first project to get warmed up was the creation of a star which is fairly simple but enough to test our setup and think about the fundamentals of leading woodwork classes with children in mind. My only wish upon this star is that I took some early pictures of the process and can begin documenting projects as a procedure but I’ll get there.

Our workshop is to use as much recycled wood as possible and still aim to create usable products that may even sell to cover costs. A skilled worker with more experience than myself was hired to get the workshop organised and run classes for adults. My role is to support him and learn what I can to run classes for younger groups. I hope to gain experience and understanding that leads to a paid role.
